Following a very successful momentary Pink Floyd reunion at Live 8 last year. Pink Floyd did become the highlight of the concert and adsorbed new fans. Their records improved. And listen to this, they were offered $150 million for a pink floyd reunion and world tour. And what did Gilmour Say? :
"We were offered $150 million to do a worldwide Pink Floyd tour . That is sick. There is no way that I am doing it!"
It is already known that Gilmour hates being made of money.
All members of the band including Nick Mason and Rick Wright were very much inspired and loved the Pink Floyd reunion gig at Live 8, and most of them want to reteam for a hopeful Pink Floyd tour. Nick Mason says: "David is busy and has no interest in reviving the band. "I’d love to do it. Rick probably would and so would Roger." But Mason understands Gilmour’s decision: "It’s probably a good thing that sometimes people don’t do things for lots of money, they should do it because they want to.

Roger Waters also loved the Live 8 gig that much even he! now wants to team up with Pink Floyd again, the band that he so fell out with previously.
He said. "I very much enjoyed the Live 8 performance, standing up here with these guys. I would love to do something like that again."
However, both Gilmour and Waters are bust doing their own mini tours. Gilmour is touring his new album, ‘On an Island’. And Waters is touring the world performing the major selling album "Dark Side of The Moon". Does that mean a Pink Floyd reunion is out of the question?! Any fan would say, I hope not!
"Pink Floyd is a massive brand name, but I don’t want to be that big a brand name. My ambitions are now deliberately smaller. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want my record and tour to sell—of course I do. But I think it’s a fairly safe bet that as a part-time solo artist, I’m not likely to get up into the stratosphere that Pink Floyd inhabited,” Gilmour said.
“The Pink Floyd thing was like this huge lumbering beast. This is a much lighter load to carry.”
A Pink Floyd reunion seems more unlikely than likely. But, Never say Never.
Anything is possible!

Not sure what’s happening with me on this one, but it seems like the more I listen to it, the better Dark Side Of The Moon gets. Dark Side Of The Moon simply put is one of their best CDs to date.
I wish it weren’t the case but, it’s not everyday that I get a CD for review that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Dark Side Of The Moon. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.
One of the refreshingly nice things about this CD is the way all of the participating artists seem to be really enjoying themselves. Combine that with the overall presentation and you’ve got one of Pink Floyd most impressive releases ever.

Listen and I think you’ll agree that the song choices are excellent, the production is outstanding and Pink Floyd is clearly a group that is in top form.
While this entire CD is outstanding the truly standout tunes are track 2 - On the Run, track 4 - The Great Gig In The Sky, and track 7 - Any Colour You Like.
My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 6 - Us And Them. It’s a great track!

I think I probably started listening to Pink Floyd because I used to chill with some dudes who smoked weed and used to play Floyd a lot and I found the music is really good to listen to when you are stoned. Pink Floyd are a kind of psychedelic rock cross breed and their lyrics are quite deep and philosophical.
Pink Floyd formed in Cambridge, England in the early 1960’s and were originally called Tea Set but one night while they were playing at a gig there was a band with the same name so Syd Barrett came up with the name The Pink Floyd Sound which was named after two blues singers (Pink Anderson an Floyd Council). The group switched between their two names for a while until finally Pink Floyd won over.

Floyd were made up originally of David Gilmour, Rick wright, Nick Mason, Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and Bob Klose. Bob Klose actually left the group before Pink Floyd had recorded any albums and David Gilmour came in to replace Barrett after his decline. In the early years Syd Barrett was the "leader" of the group and wrote most of the early songs.
The first of Pink Floyd’s albums was The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn and was released in 1967 and is considered one of the best debut albums by any group. The album contained many new technologies and the use of electronics such as the use of stereo panning, electric keyboards and echo effects.
Pink Floyd toured with Jimi Hendrix in the early 1970’s which helped them to rise in popularity and with that rise came the decline of Syd who had been taking a lot of "psychedelic" drugs and pushed him into a mental deterioration. It was around this time that David Gilmour joined the band to take the place of Syd who it is reported would just be standing still and staring into space during rehearsals and some of their performances and it is said this is due to his constant taking of LSD. Eventually the other members of the group slowly stopped taking Syd along to their concerts and his last performance was in 1968 when they played at Hastings Pier. Syd Barrett died on July 7th, 2006 after spending years in seclusion.

After Syd had formally left Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Roger Waters and Rick Wright started to take on the role of writing the lyrics and songs between them and A Saucerful Of Secrets was released in late 1968. Following this album they started to become more popular and were recruited to write the music for the film More. After this they released many further albums (Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Obscured By Clouds, Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall).
In 1985 Roger Waters left Pink Floyd and started to pursue his own solo career. There were some disagreements over the use of the "Pink Floyd" name when David Gilmour and Nick Mason continued to use the name and started recording a new album in 1986. The disagreements were finally settled out of court and the album was released (A Momentary Lapse Of Reason). There were several other albums released which were Delicate Sound Of Thunder and The Division Bell.
Roger Waters finally returned to the band in 2005 when they played together again at the London Live 8 concert. Pink Floyd have inspired many of todays groups and artists, such as Phil Collins & Genesis, Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails and Yes, and their music is a prominent feature of the musical by Tom Stoppard called Rock ‘n’ Roll which premiered at the Royal Court Theater, London in 2006.
Some of their most popular songs are: Interstellar Overdrive, A Saucerful Of Secrets, Careful With That Axe, Eugene, Brain Damage, The Great Gig In The Sky, Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2), Comfortably Numb, The Final Cut, Learning To Fly, Money and Wish You Were Here.

 17. The Missing Beatle?
"I think of a hero as someone who understands the degree of responsibility that comes with his freedom." - Bob Dylan

 1. Crooning Bob, Hidden Muse
Recently a Japanese writer named Junichi Saga was astonished and flattered to learn that passages from one of his books apparently found their way into a few of Bob Dylan’s lyrics.
In Bob Dylan’s 2001 song, "Floater", he croons - "My old man, he’s like some feudal lord, got more lives than a cat." "I’m not quite as cool or forgiving as I sound" "Sometimes somebody wants you to give something up, and tears or not, it’s too much to ask."
On page six of Junicihi Saga’s book, "Confessions of a Yakuza", he writes - "My old man would sit there like a feudal lord." "I’m not as cool or forgiving as I might have sounded." Then on page 182, writes - "Tears or not, though, that was too much to ask."
The practitioner of Chinese medicine resounded that the revelation of Dylan calling upon his own work was surprising. This could be counted as a literary theft of sorts, but the author has stated he has no plans to sue. "Why would I sue? To take something that made people around the world happy and try to exploit it for money - that’s poverty.", stated Saga.
"This shows that people in other countries can relate to the harsh realities of prewar Japan, which was a poor, struggling nation. I’m just happy somebody read my book and liked it.", said Saga. "My book hasn’t even sold that well, and it’s out of print in Japan." He further added he has estimated to have only made about $8,475 from the publication.
A few weeks ago, Saga bought his first Bob Dylan CD, "The Best of Bob Dylan".

 2. Masked & Anonymous
Would you reach out a hand to save a drowning man if you thought he might pull you in?
This is the tagline for Bob’s latest film called, "Masked & Anonymous". In it, Bob plays, Jack Fate, a singer whose career has gone on a downward spiral and is forced to make a comeback to the performance stage for a benefit concert. For this film he was joined by some of Hollywood’s hottest and brightest, all of which reportedly signed onto the film at scale rates. The cast includes: John Goodman, Jessica Lange, Luke Wilson, Jeff Bridges, Penelope Cruz, Reggie Lee, Angela Bassett, Steven Bauer, Larry Campbell, Bruce Dern, Alex Desert, Treva Etienne, Dan Frischman, Tony Garnier, Laura Elena Harring, Ed Harris, Shawn Michael Howard, Val Kilmer, Bruce Kirschbaum, Antonio David Lyons, Cheech Marin, Chris Penn, George Receli, Giovanni Ribisi, Mickey Rourke, Sam Sarpong, Charlie Sexton, Jon Sklaroff, Christian Slater and Fred Ward. On top of all of that, T-Shirt King friend, Keri Bruno, pulls 2nd Unit Directing duties on the talent heavy film.
The film hits theatres in a limited US release on July 25th.

 3. Robert Allen Zimmerman
At 5 foot six inches, Robert Allen Zimmerman might be a slight man, but under the name Bob Dylan, he is a legendary giant of a musician.
4. Elston Gunn
Robert Allen Zimmerman was born May 24th 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota. His father, Abe, was employed by the Standard Oil Company there, but when Robert was six the family moved to Hibbing, Minnesota. The one riddling note about Hibbing is that is very often the coldest place in the United States. Yikes. Growing up there he taught himself piano and guitar and formed several high school rock bands. Around this time he toyed with the stage name, "Elston Gunn".
5. A Star Is Born
By 1959, Robert entered the University of Minnesota and began performing under the name Bob Dylan at clubs in Minnesota and St. Paul.
6. A Legend Mends A Legend
In 1960 he traveled to New York to perform in various folk clubs throughout Greenwich Village. While in New York he spent time with his idol, Woody Guthrie at his hospital room.
7. Emergence
Late in 1961 he landed a contract with Columbia Records and the following year his debut album was released with two original songs. A year after that, "The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan" emerged with an all original album, including a song that became an anthem of the ’60’s - "Blowin’ in the Wind".
8. Bringing It All Back Home
In February 1964 Dylan and a small group of friends drove south out of New York City and stopped in unannounced to see poet ‘Carl Sandburg’ in North Carolina. Disappointingly, Dylan left only 10 minutes after arriving when he realized he couldn’t get the venerable man of letters to take him seriously as a fellow poet.
He popped folk-rock into the mainstream after touring with Joan Baez with his own flavor of electric/acoustic swagger, culminating with his hit song, "Bringing it all Back Home". Soon after the Byrd’s turned his song "Mr. Tambourine Man" into another hit with their cover version of the famous tune.

 9. Pat Garrett And Billy The Kid
Following a motorcycle accident in 1966 which took him out of the limelight until 1969. Around that time, Sam Peckinpah asked him to compose the score and appear in his film, "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid". This would be the only the beginning of a long and continuing relationship with Hollywood and filmmaking.
10. Grammy Time
In 1974, Bob Dylan and The Band hit the road to promote their first number one album, "Planet Waves". The next year they had another chart-topper with the release of, "Blood on the Tracks". He followed that with several Rolling Thunder tours, a film called, "Renaldo and Clara" and then stunned the music world with the release of his fundamentalist Christian album, "Slow Train Coming". A song from this album garnered him his first Grammy.
11. Pope On The Red Line
In May 1997, he was stricken with histaplasmosis, a possibly fatal infection of the heart sac, but recovered to take on a tour of Europe. He kicked off the trip by September, starting off in Rome by special request of the Pope.
12. In Their Father’s Footsteps?
His son Jakob Dylan has made a good time semi-emulating his infamous father with his own band, The Wallflowers. However, his Jesse Dylan has taken a slightly altered route to stardom, opting for the glamour of Tinsletown. His first major directing gig is about to be released, "American Pie 3". Jesse also directed a film called, "How High" and appears with a special thanks credit on "The Matrix Revisited".
13. Albums Of The Year
He is truly legendary, his 1997 album, "Time Out of Mind" and his 2001 album "Love and Theft" were both voted Album of the Year by the Village Voice’s annual critics’ poll. Seems like a no-brainer to us.

 14. Hollywood Hit List
He has composed and recorded songs or had his recorded songs used in the following films:
Gods & Generals
Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood
Vanilla Sky
Bandits
Blow
Remember the Titans
High Fidelity
Wonder Boys
The Hurricane
American Beauty
Hope Floats
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
The Big Lebowski
Jerry Maguire
Breaking the Waves
With Honors
Dogfight
Band of the Hand
American Pop
Renaldo and Clara
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid
15. Jack Fate
The small $10 million dollar film, "Masked & Anonymous" was directed by veteran TV comedy director, Larry Charles, who has also helmed shows for, "Mad About You", "Seinfeld" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm".
He appeared on the TV show, "Dharma & Greg" playing himself. When he met Conan O’Brien at a recent concert, Bob was quoted as saying, "I know you from the TeeVee."
16. Award Monger
He has received numerous awards of note, including: The Polar Music Prize from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in 2000, The Commandeur dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from France in 1990, an honorary doctorate from Princeton University in 1970 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Bruce Springteen at New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel in 1988.

17. The Missing Beatle?
He appears on the sleeve of the Beatles’ "Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club".
At the famous "Johnny Cash at San Quentin" concert, Johnny Cash introduced a song he co-wrote with Dylan by describing his as "…the greatest writer of our times."

Last season for the Eagles was one to forget. They had issues on and off the field. For the Eagles, the season ended in a couple of weeks. They finished an abysmal 6-10. Over the off season, they solved the Terrell Owens issue. He’s now with their nemesis, the Dallas Cowboys. Looking at the Eagles, they appear to be ready to move forward and get back on track. Unfortunately, the NFC East is going to be a rough division. Every team is expected to fight hard for the title.
Quarterbacks
I am not sure where to rank Donovan McNabb. He appears to be going the wrong way in his career. The 2006 season is going to be crucial for him and this Eagles offense. Many will be quick to blame last season on his injury and Owens. Will McNabb stay healthy this season? Will it matter? The Eagles brought in Jeff Garcia as a backup. He’s not the best quarterback out there, but he makes for a decent backup option.
Receivers
The receiving crew for the Eagles is expected to be just above average. They don’t have a bona fide star on the staff. The Eagles will most likely spread the ball around to each receiver and see who develops throughout the year. Keeping healthy is going to be the biggest obstacle. If Todd Pinkston can play this season—the whole season—he could add a nice threat.
Running Backs

The Eagles have a pretty good running game. Brian Westbrook—if he stays healthy—is going to provide a good option for the Eagles offensive approach. To help keep him healthy, the Eagles might do a running back by committee for a fair percentage of the downs. Ryan Moats figures to get some decent playing time.
Defense and Special Teams
The Eagles have a top 15 defense in my opinion. One key addition this season is Darren Howard. He came over from the New Orleans Saints. As with the rest of the Eagles team, he also had health issues. However, he could provide the spark that propels this defense upward. They also added LB Shawn Barber and DT Ed Jasper. The special teams are also above average. David Akers should be back to his usual good self. Jeremy Bloom was selected by the Eagles in the 2006 Draft and he’s going to be a return man. He could end up giving the Eagles that return threat they lacked last season.
2006 Prediction

The Eagles should have no trouble improving on their horrible 6-10 record from 2005. However, they are in a very tough division. Their schedule is a good balance of good and poor teams. They should be able to get to 8-8. How well they improved will determine the rest of the way. Their softer games include: Oakland, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints, Houston Texans, and San Francisco 49ers. That could be up to seven wins waiting for them. The other nine games are against tougher teams, including the six against the NFC East foes.

Have you been trying to learn guitar online and ended up more confused than when you started? There is an avalanche of online guitar lessons offering information about how to play like your favorite group.
The dilemma for every guitarist is how to choose the best online guitar lesson, the lesson that will enable the guitarist to re- create the guitar sounds they hear on the original recordings.
One of the most popular groups of all time is undoubtedly the Rolling Stones. Along with the Beatles, Creedence and Led Zeppelin the Rolling Stones have stood the test of time. Each year new audiences discover and are enthralled by their music.
Guitarist Keith Richards is a master of creating unique guitar parts that immediately identify each song. The "art of all art"is knowing when to stop, Keith knows how to make effective use of musical space or silence. While most guitarist’s are busy filling up every musical hole at every opportunity Keith invites the listener into his world, consequently the audience never tire of hearing these songs.
To help you get started playing authentic versions of the Rolling Stones songs here’s 3 tips.
1. Learn to play three note chords in the second, third and forth strings of the guitar. These three chords are called triads and are a large part of the Rolling Stones trademark guitar sound.
Listen to the opening chords of "Start Me Up" or " Brown Sugar" for examples of this style of chord playing.

For "Start Me Up", play a "C" major triad as follows:
Play the note "G" on the fifth fret, forth string, play the note "C" on the fifth fret third string, play the note "E" on the fifth fret second string. Since all these notes are on the fifth fret you could easily play all the notes by making a barre chord with your first finger.
Incidentally this particular version of a "C" chord has a technical name. Musicians call this chord the second inversion of a C major triad. It’s useful to know the theoretical terminology to communicate with musicians who play other instruments e.g., piano, bass, trumpet etc.
2. Use standard guitar tuning. Despite the fact that Keith Richard’s uses a variety of ‘open’ tunings e.g., open "G" tuning consisting of: sixth string = D, fifth string = G, forth sting = D, third string = G, second string = B, first string = D. You can create the same sounds without re-tuning your guitar.

The big advantage with leaving your guitar in standard tuning is that you will naturally develop a better ‘ear’. This is because your ear will get to know where a particular sound comes from on the guitar. If you keep re-tuning your guitar it will confuse your ear.
3. Play two note power chords on the third and forth strings. Listen to the opening chords of the original version "Honky Tonk Women" and you will hear a classic example of the type of sound I am referring to.
Try playing the third and forth stings open, strum both of these strings and you will be playing the first chords of "Honky Tonk Women", this chord is called "G".
Remember, just because it’s simple doesn’t mean that it’s not right. Simple works!
The trick is to pay attention to how Keith Richard "spaces" the chords, in other words listen to his rhythm.
With so many online guitar lessons it’s important to get off to the right start, it is so much harder to re-learn something once it’s ingrained in your brain.
If you want to learning Rolling Stones songs check out online guitar lessons that present their songs in standard tuning, you will be glad you did!

 6. It’s All Over Now
7. Don’t Stop
8. Happy
9. The Last Time

 1. You Can’t Always Get What You Want
Mere days after their release of "Beggar’s Banquet" in 1968, the band pulled together a real-life circus of a show. Designed as a television spectacle consisting of real circus performers, and some top rock acts of the day. Jethro Tull, The Who and Eric Clapton were in attendance, as were lions, trapeze artists, John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The kind of show you might only now see on the very best of David Letterman.
The idea was to produce a unique showcase, but the footage was eventually shelved and hidden away for nearly 3 decades due to what was deemed sub-standard performances. It was not shown publicly for 27 years, except for brief excerpts in home videos. The Who’s performance of "A Quick One" was used in their own film/career documentary, "The Kids Are Alright". The true landmark of the show for The Rolling Stones was it was Brian Jones’ last performance with the band.
2. Only Rock ‘n Roll
Before the Rolling Stones had galvanized their name as the World Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the late ’60s, they had already laid a handsome claim to the title. The Beatles had paved the way for the British Invasion, but the Rolling Stones pioneered the gritty, hard-pounding blues-infused rock and roll that now defines the genre. Mick Jagger might be a tiny little man by many standards, but with no question he is the biggest front man to ever grace a rock stage. Wild. Macho. Campy. Sexy. He created the role of the rockstar.
3. Get Off My Cloud
To nightcap their hugely successful 1969 North American tour, the band planned a large, free concert in San Francisco similar to a successful concert they had done in London’s Hyde Park earlier that summer. But between permit denials, greed and a last-minute change of venue, the event spiraled from what was potentially a West Coast Woodstock to a jumbled chaotic mess.
Things turned for the worse with their bad choice of security, the biker gang the "Hell’s Angels", contributing to a day-long sideshow of brutal violence and truly bad vibes. By the time the Stones took the stage that evening, things had already come undone with a dramatic stabbing of spectator by one of the Hell’s Angels. The stabbing was captured on film in the documentary, "Gimme Shelter".
4. She’s A Rainbow
The band’s longtime acquaintance with law enforcement started with an infamous ‘pissing’ incident in March of 1965. Bill Wyman needed to use the restroom at a gas station, but was refused admittance and told to promptly vacate the premises. Mick Jagger and Brian Jones joined Bill in pissing against a wall, and the Rolling Stones’ image as bad boys was firmly established. In a remarkable show of solidarity and opportunism, which was not to be repeated, all five-band members showed up at court, several weeks later.

5. Under My Thumb
How can you be the next Keith Richards? Well, asides from several obvious personal decisions, to get his legendary sound, first you’re going to need to go out and get yourself a Fender Telecaster. Keith plays in open G tuning with his own customized 5-string version. Take your low E string off the guitar and then tune it low to high as GDGBD. You can always tune the low E string to D as well if you’re not into removing the sixth string. Keith sums up his approach with a simple phrase that only he could truly relate, "5 strings, 3 fingers, and one ***hole." There’s no one like Keith Richards.
6. It’s All Over Now
The famous tongue and lip design and countless variations of such has graced countless official and unofficial Rolling Stones memorabilia and products since it first appeared when the band formed "Rolling Stones Records" in 1971. Credit for the creation of the original design has been mistakenly given to several people over the years. Many have stated that Andy Warhol was the originator. He did design two album covers for the band, but not the tongue design. In 1995, Billboard Magazine printed that it was from the mind of Ruby Mazur. Discovering their mistake, they later corrected their statement, identifying Mazur as the designer of the first official variation of the tongue design. With further research later that year, Billboard definitely uncovered that the original classic design came from John Pasch. Two years later, Mick Jagger confirmed that Pasch was the originator of the fabled logo.
7. Don’t Stop
Rolling Stones museum, anyone? Former Rolling Stones member, Bill Wyman operates a restaurant entitled, "Sticky Fingers" in the well-to-do Kensington section of London. The food is nothing to write home about, unless you consider the cuisine at the Hard Rock Café something to die for. The prices are so-so, no more than the one-two punch inflicted by Planet Hollywood fare.
What’s special here is that the whole place is a shrine the legendary rockers. Jam-packed with posters, magazine covers, guitars, gold discs and the like. Most of time, as you might imagine, you’ll be enjoying the soothing sounds of Stones tune while you munch your fish and chips.

8. Happy
If you never get a chance to stand live in the crowd and soak the sound waves as they emit straight from the wall of loud speakers, then the next best chance at the excitement is one many films made from their various shows. Perhaps the most famous is from their 1972 North American tour. Titled, "Ladies and Gentlemen, The Rolling Stones", unfortunately the screening of it can prove difficult. Originally released in Quadraphonic sound, the original soundtrack, record as it is on the film in an unusual manner requires considerable labor to view properly. The effort is occasionally undertaken, as it was done in a September 1996 screening at New York’s Lincoln Center. Hmmm, maybe it would be easier to just see them live after all.
9. The Last Time
Is this their last world tour? They’ve been fielding that question ever since they were first asked it way back in 1966. Mick Jagger turned 59 this past July 26th and Keith Richards turns 59 on December 18th. Jagger will be 60 by the time they wrap up their European tour, perhaps that’s old enough to retire, but we’re betting that they’ll be back as long as they’re around. Why stop now?
